Criterion Makes Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Free Download in Honor of Harold Ramis in Burnout Paradise

Free Ghostbusters Ecto-1 for Burnout Paradise

Looks like it's time to dust off Burnout Paradise, folks. In honor of Harold Ramis' recent death, Criterion Games has offered up the Burnout Paradise Legendary Car Collection DLC for free today. This may seem like unrelated news but perhaps the most popular car in the set was a revamp of the Hunter Manhattan Spirit car that was made up to look like the Ecto-1 from "Ghostbusters".

Now the car was never specically called the Ecto-1 for legal issues but we all knew what it was. It's got the look, it's got the sirens, it even says "We Listen 2 U" on the back. Other cars in the Legendary Car Collection include a dead-on "Back to the Future" Delorean that could fold up its wheels and hover, KITT from "Knight Rider", and the General Lee from "The Dukes of Hazzard". The cars all cost a few bucks each and this is the first time it's ever been offered up for free.

It really does seem like everyone is in mourning this week. I went down to the famous Ghostbusters Firehouse in NYC yesterday and saw a makeshift memorial in the works for the comedic legend, people leaving candles, flowers, and Twinkies behind. Even the president issued a statement about Ramis that included a "Caddyshack" joke. Everyone is remembering him in their own way and it's nice to see Criterion making this move.

You can find the Legendary Car Collection at this link- and hey, it's a good reason to revisit one of the best racing games ever made. Don't forget to fire up a classic Ramis film this week and think about the man yourself. Rest in piece, Harold Ramis.
