Roger Federer: I feel hungry, refreshed and rejuvenated for next season

Roger Federer is coming back with a vengeance next season as he tries to add another Grand Slam title to his trophy cabinet. In a recent interview, Federer insisted that he still has the hunger for success and he feels refreshed and rejuvenated for next season.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion has not played since July when he lost to Milos Raonic in the semifinals of Wimbledon. He has cited knee problems as to why he decided to end his season very early. He has undergone rehabilitation during his time off, as well as spending time with his family.

In an interview with the New York Times, Federer mentioned that his wife, Mirka, and their four kids are excited about next season. He added that he feels refreshed, rejuvenated and hungrier for success next season as he looks to prove his critics wrong.

"Mirka is totally committed, totally happy. The kids love it, and I'm still hungry. And now I'm even refreshed and rejuvenated. The kids were asking, 'When are we leaving again?' Because they were happy to get back on the road," Federer said.

According to the latest ATP rankings, Federer is currently ranked 16th in the world. It is his lowest seeding since his rookie days as his age and injuries have piled up in the past couple of seasons. However, he is determined to get back on track and face the likes of Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal once again.

As for the possibilities of retirement, Federer is not thinking about it just yet. He still feels great and his desire is still there so there's no point for walking away. However, the 35-year-old has not won a Grand Slam title since 2010 and he has not reached a Grand Slam final since 2011.

Nevertheless, the Swiss superstar is considered by many as the greatest ever. He has won 17 Grand Slam titles including four Australian Opens, one French Open, seven Wimbledons and five US Open championships.
