Since James Rodriguez made an admission that he is currently weighing his options ahead of the January transfer window, there's been plenty of speculation as to which club he could move to.

The potential clubs have been narrowed down to the Premier League, as James Rodriguez was recently seen at the British Embassy in Colombia to apply for a UK visa, according to El Tiempo. Pilar Rubio, James's mother, confirmed on an interview that the Real Madrid midfielder is indeed in Colombia to spend the holidays with his family.

Real Madrid will not allow him to leave until this season is over, after the  Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling shortened the transfer ban to one window only. This means the club can only sign new players in the summer, and the board is hesitant to sell off its players without any replacements until then. Otherwise, James Rodriguez's €500M ($522M) termination clause will be implemented.

Jorge Mendes, his agent is said to be busy behind the scenes arranging James Rodriguez's transfer though. Mendes is affiliated with Jose Mourinho, and Manchester United is also said to be interested in the Colombian international. But a move to Chelsea is more likely, as Chelsea has the funds to make an offer to James, while Man U might have to sell a couple of players to afford his transfer fee.

Even if James Rodriguez will not transfer immediately during winter, it's very likely that he's already preparing ahead for his exit from Real Madrid next summer.
