Titanfall Season Pass: Game to Receive Paid and Free Updates, no Microtransactions

Titanfall Season Pass Confirmed, to Receive Paid and Free Updates and no Microtransactions [VIDEO]

Remember when I reported on the Titanfall Launch Trailer and said that there was no definitive word on whether or not the game will receive a Season Pass? Well, the word has been spoken. Vince Zampella, co-founder of Respawn Entertainment has revealed that Titanfall will indeed receive a Season Pass, allowing players to pre-purchase a series of downloadable content.

In an interview with Gamespot Zampella confirmed the existence of the Season Pass, and told the site how Respawn will approach its post-release content. The interview begins at the 33 minute mark.

"We're going to do paid DLC, we're also going to do free updates," Zampella stated. "There are things that we want in the game that we didn't get to ship in the final game. So we'll add private matches and things like that for free. There will be some paid DLC. We're going to do a season pass just because if you buy it up front, you get a deal. We're not doing microtransactions. So a season pass is just buy it up front, and you get a better price."

Zampella also addressed the feedback and response to the public Titanfall beta, revealing that about 2 million people tried the game out over the course of the game's beta stage. He also addressed the reasoning behind focusing on multiplayer, acknowledged the map and mode leaks, talked of gameplay longevity, and the press' reaction to the title.

Titanfall will be releasing on March 11 for Xbox One and PC. The Xbox 360 version will release a few weeks later on March 25. Pricing details and associated DLC has not been revealed just yet for the Season Pass, but I doubt we'll be waiting long to hear about it.
