'Injustice 2' Beta Invites & New Character Gameplay Released

The "Injustice 2" beta phase was just recently announced by NetherRealm's Ed Boon last week. Fans were caught by surprise when the fighting game's beta arrived just five days after the initial signup. Players are reportedly advised to check their emails since the developer has sent the first group of invites.

For those people who have not received their codes, the developer confirms that they will continue to send more in the next couple of days. Gamers interested to sign up can apparently do so since it is still ongoing as of now, says Game Rant. Reports confirm that the beta period will last an entire month and will be active once players receive their codes in their email.

Sources say the beta features four playable fighters, but speculations indicate a possibility of more characters being added at a later time. The "Injustice 2" beta currently allows players to choose from Superman, Super Girl, Atrocitus and Batman. The limited-time event is only limited to North America and is playable on the PS4 and Xbox One, reports Destructoid.

The previously announced gameplay trailer last week was revealed to be for Robin. The footage shows the "Boy Wonder" fighting against Gotham's "Dark Knight." His attacks and combos were on show as well as his super move near the end. He can also be seen fighting against other characters included in the game's primary roster.

During the "Watchtower" livestream the developer also showcased the game's gear system. It is reportedly described as a loot feature, which relies on a Random Number Generator (RNG) system integrated into the fighting game. The items are rewarded post-match and could be purely cosmetic or sometimes tweak the character's abilities and stats. This item system reportedly describes the tagline "Every Battle Defines You."

A previous report from Gamenguide describes the different variants buyer can choose from for "Injustice 2." The Deluxe Edition comes with three DLC characters and a premier skin for $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition allocates 9 DLC characters with three premier skins. Pre-ordering the game also gives players Darkseid as a free DLC character. The game will officially launch on May 16, 2017 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
