‘Overwatch’: D.va From ‘Overwatch’ Has Become A Symbol Of Hope In Real Life

“Overwatch” is one of the most successful titles of 2016. Long before it came out it had stirred up the fans’ imaginations and after it was released this effect has only strengthened. What is the secret behind the game’s imaginative success, the world may never know, but people are out there and they are changing the world.

Kotaku shares an article of a group of female gamers who have marched together under the banner of D.VA. The organization bearing the name of “National D.va Association” was part of the protest against president Park Geun Hye, the policy she had implemented towards the country and the proof of deep seated corruption which had been revealed in the past few months.

Their reason for choosing D.Va is the fact that within the “Overwatch” universe she is a popular gamer, who uses her skills to bring greatness to her country (and save the world in the meantime). In her they have seen a strong female authority under whose banner they can gather. Apart from joining the march, this organization works in establishing female gamers’ position in South Korea, as they feel themselves ignored, ridiculed or directly insulted in both games and gaming society.

As far as the character herself goes, the fates have not been kind to her. In the last patch, D.VA got her damage and shield nerfed in order to deliver more balance to the game. Sadly, this led to the character becoming too fragile for a tank and too weak for a fighter. Fear not, for Sports World News has some jolly news to share. Blizzard will be reworking the way D.VA’s shield works, based on data received from the PTR server. It is possible that she will get either a boost to her shield or the ability to shield and shoot simultaneously, which could bring her back into the current rotation.

Concerned fans have made a sub-Reddit on which they discuss the possible changes coming to D.Va.
Most of them agree that an increase in her damage would be a bad idea, as she has high mobility and a shield to protect her. Another suggestion was that her damage may go up, but it will lead to reduced movement speed while shooting. The most popular theory is about increasing her defense matrix, by either increasing its amount or lowering its cool down. What the coming change will be, only Blizzard can answer. “Overwatch” is available on PC, PS 4 and XBOX One.
