'Overwatch' PTR: Bastion Reportedly Overpowered By Latest Buff
Overwatch has been all over the news in the past week, especially with its incoming changes like the new Server Browser, character balances and its "Year of the Rooster" coming to an end this week. Fans have apparently enjoyed collecting the new skins and items featured during its Chinese New Year special, while other players enjoyed the preview of upcoming changes through the PTR. However, it seems like the Bastion buff is a little too good for some users.
Some of the tweaks available for players test included a balance tweak for Winston and previously almost always meant a sure death for the hero. Some dedicated fans even scoured over the Test Region's update and speculated more hints about Doomfist's impending arrival, as reported by Game Rant.
Meanwhile, the biggest focus among the "Overwatch" PTR changes is reportedly about Bastion's buff. Most players expected some tweaks to make the defensive hero more viable, but not overpowered. In fact, the developers even talked about the modifications in their official patch notes. They noted that their goal was to transfer some of the character's power from his Sentry mode into his Recon mode. "Overall, Bastion should feel stronger and more flexible with these changes," they added.
Users have reportedly known that the character needed some adjustments to improve his chances of being picked by players. However, it seems like a particular tweak has made the transforming robot into an overpowered killing machine. His new passive skill "Ironclad," apparently deflects up to 35% damage from attacks while in Sentry or Tank mode. At first glance, it appears to be fair buff given that he becomes stationary during his defensive configuration.
Players have noted that with the right team combination, Bastion's passive skill can make him near invincible. This happens when he is in Sentry or Tank configuration and an Ana player hits him with a "Nano Boost" ultimate skill. This gives the character another 50% damage deflection, which in total pumps up his damage reduction to 83% in total. Destructoid describes him as an "unstoppable juggernaut," which is clearly shown in an "Overwatch" PTR YouTube video below.
