Microsoft Confirms 'Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War' As First Project Scorpio Game

After the recent news about Monolith Productions' "Middle-Earth: Shadow of War" being an Xbox Play Anywhere title, Microsoft's Phil Spencer reportedly confirmed that the game is going to be a Project Scorpio title. His announcement marks the game as the first one confirmed for the new flagship console from Microsoft. It was reportedly confirmed through his recent tweet about the fantasy RPG game.

Sources have analyzed the tweet and indicated that Spencer enumerated each of the platforms that will support the Xbox Play Anywhere feature of the game. His inclusion of the Scorpio led gamers to speculate that the title might be a launch title for the new console as well. However, some reports point out that his post might indicate that the Scorpio might have exclusives that are not playable on Xbox One and on the PC, even via Microsoft's Xbox Play Anywhere program, as suspected by Game Rant.

"Middle-Earth: Shadow of War" might be a Project Scorpio title that is also playable on the Xbox One and PC through the Xbox Play Anywhere feature. These speculations have not yet been officially confirmed by Microsoft or Monolith Productions. The flagship console is expected to be revealed during the company's E3 2017 product conference. Sources suspect that the show might hold some more information as to why Spencer's tweet mentioned the Scorpio.

Segment Next reports that the game is also slated to come out for Sony's gaming systems. It was noted that the Fantasy RPG will also showcase the processing prowess of the PlayStation 4 Pro and Scorpio. The developer has apparently confirmed that the two consoles will flaunt an enhanced version of the game. Users who probably want to get the best experience might consider either of the two game systems, especially after the Scorpio comes out.

Fans have speculated that Monolith Productions has indicated an Aug. 22, 2017 release date for "Middle-Earth: Shadow of War", which led to the suspicion that Microsoft might also release Project Scorpio earlier than expected. Based on Phil Spencer's post, it seems that the game is prepared to come out for the PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Project Scorpio.
