LOOK: Pokemon Scarlet And Violet's Lechonk Gets Animated Pixel Art Style

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Fan Animates Lechonk Pixel Art Style

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet aren't even due to release until November 18th, but one of the new Pokemon introduced in its latest trailer is already the talk of the town: the tiny pig-like pocket monster Lechonk.

Fans have been basically head over heels in love with Lechonk, and this fan is no exception, reports GameRant. Redditor Albhedos_workshop shared an animation they made of the new Pokemon, where it was depicted in 8Bit style sleeping on grass, and possibly snorting just as a pig would. The pixelated image is what fans could consider reminiscent of older games in the Pokemon franchise.

The animation was posted on the general Pokemon subreddit, where it has already earned over 10,400 upvotes and almost 80 comments at the time of this writing. As expected, the commenters were also quite smitten with the Lechonk animation, mainly because of how detailed it looks - the grass rustles in front of its face as it breathes, for instance:

Some fans were really digging the art style, saying they "really miss" the pixel style Pokemon games of old. They also say that the current-generation crop of Pokemon titles would look amazing in that style, and not in the new 3D style which one commenter says looks "off-putting, cold, and lifeless."

The mostly positive reaction to Lechonk is just one part of the internet's collective love for the new pocket monster. Just input "Lechonk" on YouTube, for instance, and you'll see a bunch of YouTubers reacting to the memes and basically just loving every bit of the adorable pig. In online parlance, the new Pokemon Scarlet And Violet addition basically "broke the internet" as explained by Pokemon YouTuber Ace Trainer Liam:

Either way, gamers will have their first crack at Lechonk when both Pokemon Scarlet and Violet releases later this year, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.

More Information About Lechonk

Notwithstanding the memes and general early love for Lechonk, there are a few more details about him that paint a clearer picture of what kind of Pokemon he really is.

First off, let's talk about Lechonk's body composition. Despite it looking fat, the official description for the pocket monster says all that mass is mostly muscle (via Twinfinite). The reason for this is that Lechonk actually built muscle just from constantly running around in search of food. So that's a 22.5-lb blob of muscle right there, as described on Serebii.

As for its category and type, things can get a little underwhelming and downright confusing even for long-time Pokemon fans. The Official Pokemon YouTube Channel classifies Lechonk as a "Normal" type Pokemon, but it's not categorized as a hog. It looks like one, acts like one, but is not categorized as one - just like other hog-like Pokemon like Spoink, Swinub, and Tepig, for some reason.

To cap things off, Lechonk's abilities include Aroma Veil and Gluttony. Aroma Veil prevents the effects of Taunt, Encore, Disable, Torment, Cursed Body, Heal Block, and Infatuation. And Gluttony, which Lechonk shares with other Pokemon such as Snorlax, allows it to consume a held berry with 50% HP remaining instead of the normal 25%.
