MLB 14 The Show PS4 Trailer Shows Off Fantastic-Looking Ballparks and Crowds

MLB 14: The Show may already be out on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, but its next-gen counterpart has yet to hit consoles. The PS4 version will be out May 6, but to hold us over until then Sony has gifted us with a new trailer showcasing the game's beautiful ballparks.

The new "The Cathedrals Are Better on PS4" trailer shows off some fantastic-looking stadiums and crowds, a vast improvement over the still-attractive PS3 version of the game. There is a ton of detail in the stadium decorations and features, with emphasis on making every ballpark unique and true to their real-life appearance.

The video includes narration as well, explaining the ideas behind their efforts and the specific details and technical features behind each aspect of the upgraded graphics. The crowds in particular look much more realistic in terms of variety (up to 1,000 unique models) and animation, making things more dynamic rather than obvious canned movements. They've also included children and bat boys as well, which are both series firsts.

The stars of the video, though, are the 'cathedrals' that America's pastime is played in, as the trailer's name suggests. They really do look great on next-gen hardware, and every one is unique. The developers have included features like Yankee Stadium's Monument Park and the Royals' beautiful center field jumbotron.

The narrator talks about their new lighting system, as well as specifics such as spec maps and floating-point frame buffers, and what these things bring to the table. The stadiums, fields, crowds and players all look fantastic on PS4, so check it out in the video below.
