Tomodachi Life for 3DS' Nintendo Direct Might Actually Be Bigger News Than Super Smash Bros. [VIDEO]

I'm Confused By Tomodachi Life for 3DS, But I Really Want It

So, you thought that the Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct the other day was the biggest news coming out of the Big N this week, huh?

Well, you're wrong. Because Tomodachi Life is coming on June 6 for 3DS, and it lets you... well, I'm still trying to figure out exactly what it is that you do in this game. Your Mii is the star, I can tell that much. You can get your T-Pain on and sing some beautiful autotuned masterpieces. Oh, and Nintendo of America COO Reggie Fils-Aime's body is ready to receive this game. Yeah, I'm confused too.

The game appears to be some fusion of Animal Crossing and The Sims, but the Direct presentation makes it really hard to get a read on it. Luckily, Nintendo sent out a press release that gives some details.

"Take all your preconceived notions about life's possibilities, crumple them into a ball and toss them out the window," Nintendo stated in the release. "It's time to star in a whole new life. On June 6, visit the outrageously bizarre island world of Tomodachi Life for the Nintendo 3DS system. Everyone you know, and everyone you wish you knew, should prepare to meet their Mii maker - you! - as you build a bustling fantasy population of friends, family and even celebrities, all in one wild and hilarious world. The real emotional connection you already share with your Mii characters will keep you glued to the drama, intrigue and hilarity that ensues as everyone goes about their extraordinary daily lives, evolving and interacting in unpredictable and often uproarious ways."

OK, that makes sense. Wait, no, it still doesn't. I'm still quite confused.

"Even your far-fetched celebrity dreams can come true in Tomodachi Life," the release continued. "If you have ever wanted international superstar Christina Aguilera to join you in a sing-off, or believed that she would become BFFs with your cousin or wished she would perform a song with your customized lyrics, it could happen here. The multi award-winning singer has signed on to be a part of Nintendo's promotional campaign for the game, and her Mii character will be available at launch. Aguilera's Mii character also will guest star in a TV commercial and in online videos that show all the exciting things that happen when celebrities mingle with Miis players know personally. The first video in the series can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/sBTHSY5GKKY. Additional celebrities involved with Tomodachi Life will be announced over the upcoming weeks."

Sign up Jennifer Lawrence and I'm sold, Nintendo.

So yeah, this sounds like it's basically a life simulator where you're pretty much a god, but without all of the micromanaging crap from The Sims. You just get to set the environment, sit back, and watch life unfold around you. Maybe your girlfriend will end up with your best friend. Too bad, sucka! That's just how the cookie crumbles in Tomodachi Life.

If your body is as ready for this as Reggie's is, check out the Nintendo Direct video below and let us know what you think. Also, check out Kotaku's full collection of Tomodachi gifs.
