'Bound by Flame' Gameplay Trailer Shows Off Brutal Combat System [VIDEO]

New 'Bound By Flame' Trailer Showcases Combat System

Spiders Games has released a new trailer for Bound By Flame, the studio's latest action RPG. This video details all the different combat styles you'll be able to use in the game. This is no turn-based RPG- you'll have to stay on your toes and cleverly level up your skills to stay alive against hordes of monsters, whether that's by slowing down time or lighting your weapon on fire.

You play a mercenary possessed by a flame demon, which normally sounds like a bad thing, but it turns out the world is being attacked by seven Ice Lords and an undead army, so it's actually quite fortuitous.

Three different combat styles can be chosen- Fighter, Ranger and Pyromancer, and each comes with its own skill tree. Choose the one that matches your playstyle.

The fighter of course is all about brutal melee combat, and includes heavy weapons that can knock enemies back. The character's a tank. The Ranger dual-wields blades and can backstab enemies, although they don't have to sneak around- they're very fast in combat and can inflict tons of damage before they even know what hit them. They also can acquire a skill that allows them to slow down time. The Pyromancer is all about fire powers- you can summon flame elementals, light your weapon on fire, and shoot fireballs.

There's a deeper look at the game in the video below. Bound by Flame will be released on PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on May 9, 2014. Sorry, Xbox One gamers!
