Ubisoft deployed the Y8S4.2 update for its online tactical shooter game Rainbow Six Siege recently. While it brought many changes and bug fixes, the company has decided to temporarily disable the game's Social Menu on consoles due to crashing issues.

Social Menu Disabled

Rainbow Six Siege's Social Menu is a feature that allows players to invite their friends into an online match against others in a more convenient way. That said, Ubisoft announced in a recent tweet that the company is disabling Social Menu on consoles as it investigates reports about crashing issues when interacting with the feature.

Those who want to invite their friends can utilize the Ubisoft Connect Overlay in the meantime. Hopefully, the company can resolve the issue with the game's Social Menu soon.

Patch Highlights

Now for some positive news, the Y8S4.2 update for Rainbow Six Siege implemented some huge improvements, especially to certain Operators. Maverick has been deemed an ineffective breacher in the past because of his lack of utility. To make him more appealing to use now, Ubisoft gave Maverick the ability to throw smoke grenades to help conceal his team's position.

Mina Sky, more popularly known as Thunderbird, is now able to use the Deployable Shield to create genuine strongholds for her team. When used in conjunction with her Kóna Healing Station, Thunderbird's group is definitely much tougher to beat now than ever before.

While Maverick and Thunderbird have been buffed in some capacity in the Y8S4.2 update, the same cannot be said for Kapkan. According to the Rainbow Six Siege development team, Kapkan's traps would induce fear in the hearts of his opponents. Because of their potential to cripple the members of the enemy team, Kapkan's Impact Grenades have been removed in this patch and are replaced by the Bulletproof Camera instead. The rationale for this change is that Kapkan already has a lot of offensive tools at his disposal, particularly when it comes to halting the opposing team's advance.
