Developer Airship Syndicate dropped a hefty new update for Wayfinder that promises to improve the game's performance across the board.

Greatly Optimized Performance

Patch 0.2.4 for Wayfinder brought a ton of changes that aim to improve the performance of the game on all supported platforms. For one, the game's shaders will now be preloaded when starting a game. This significantly reduces the stuttering that players may experience when moving to new areas.

Wayfinder is also available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. That said, Patch 0.2.4 also added new "Performance" and "Quality" presets in the game's graphics settings. Console players can now favor higher frame rates or better visual fidelity thanks to the new options.

Now, to ensure that the game runs smoothly on the initial boot-up, Wayfinder is now going to default to the "Medium" preset settings on the first launch. This does not affect those who have already played the game. This only occurs whenever new players fire up the game for the first time.

New Features

Aside from the performance improvements implemented in this update, Patch 0.2.4 added some nifty features as well. Players can now quickly travel to a zone map that they have discovered before thanks to the new Fast Travel flyout menu.

In addition, a new "soft-targeting" system has been introduced that results in better responsiveness to directional input. This addresses the issue where nearby off-target enemies are selected over those that are on-target but a bit further away from the player.
