LEGO's Fan-Designed Dungeons & Dragons Set features 3745 Pieces With a Playable Adventure!

LEGO Releases a 3745-Piece Dungeons & Dragons-Themed Build With a Price Tag of $360

LEGO just released a 3,745-piece Dungeons & Dragons set that also comes with its own playable adventure and fan favorites, such as myconids, a beholder, and a massive red dragon.

The release comes after several months of rumors and speculations and the massive set was created in a partnership between LEGO and Wizards of the Coast. The building set is known as the Red Dragon's Tale and will be publicly available for purchase on Apr. 1 in LEGO stores and to those in the LEGO Insiders program.

Others who wish to take home this iconic set can roll for initiative on receiving one on Apr. 4, with a price tag of $359.99. The massive set was designed through LEGO's Ideas platform where fans submit their own build concepts which are then refined and produced as official sets.

The Dungeons & Dragons set includes a full dungeon and tower, a tavern, and six minifigures that include an Orc Rogue, Gnome Fighter, Elf Wizard, and Dwarf Cleric. Builders who get their hands on the set will also receive several iconic D&D monsters, such as an owlbear, beholder, displacer beast, and the red dragon Cinderhowl, according to GameInformer.

Additionally, LEGO is also offering an actual D&D adventure book to LEGO Insiders as a free digital download or as a paperback book that can be bought with 2,700 Insider points. The same book will also show up on D&D Beyond, which is Wizards of the Coast's digital hub for D&D. It will come complete with character sheets and digital dice.

The idea is that players will presumably play out the adventure with the included LEGO minifigures and monsters being used on the table. On top of the massive build set, LEGO also revealed that it has plans for a full line of D&D-themed minifigures that would launch in September later this year.

The Red Dragon's Tale

The D&D-themed building set that has Cinderhowl as its centerpiece was released as the massively popular roleplaying game celebrates its 50th anniversary. The main inspiration for the set was Lucas Bolt's submission, "Dragon's Keep: Journey's End. The released build keeps the majority of the fan-made set's features.

Some other iconic characters that were also included in the new set are the skeleton mob and the gelatinous cube. The latter also lets players encase a part of a victim inside a not-so-gooey prison, said The Verge.

After the new Dungeons & Dragons: Red Drago's Tale set becomes available, those who order between Apr. 1 and Apr. 7 will also receive a LEGO mimic dice box. In a statement talking about his design for the official LEGO set, Bolt said that he was inspired by the combination of the D&D theme and his love of history, fantasy, and making games.

He said that he had so much fun designing his submission to LEGO's Ideas platform and that he was privileged to have his design become the inspiration for the Red Dragon's Tale build. He worked with the LEGO design team to develop "the unique setting represented in the final set," according to USA Today.
