Planet Crafter Just Got an Official 1.0 Release Date, Will Bring New Co-op Mode

Planet Crafter revealed its official 1.0 release date and will exit Steam early access in April to bring a new co-op mode for players to enjoy.

The full game's launch comes after two years of being in early access and enjoying a positive reception that resulted in many large updates. New and returning players will soon find new biomes, new alien animals, and an eight-player co-op mode.

The title is a first-person, crafting open-world game that is sometimes described as a mix of Subnautica and Astroneer. The player's goal is to terraform a hostile planet in order to make it a habitable place for humans. This is done by producing oxygen, generating heating, collecting resources, and building a base.

The game's upcoming 1.0 launch in April will add several new biomes, a variety of animal species, and a new multiplayer mode. Planet Crafter has more than 96% of its 25,000 Steam reviews as positive. With this, it is safe to say that the game's nearly two years in early access was a success, according to PCGamesN.

The game's developer, Miju Games, said that Planet Crafter adds a unique twist to the genre with the terraformation of an entire planet as a new mechanic. This is what was considered to have set the game apart from the year's many other survival games.

Miju Games said that the mechanic brings a lot to players' experience as they see the world around them evolve as a direct consequence of their actions. They added that, unlike other survival games, Planet Crafter has a focus on a chill, non-violent experience that centers around restoring instead of destroying.

The developer also wanted to get to the bottom of the new mechanics and details that Planet Crafter's 1.0 update will add to the base game. Miju Games said that players will be able to add big animals to their planets and they will also be able to genetically modify these creatures to their liking by researching specific genetic traits.

Mostly Positive Reviews

The announcement of the full launch also noted that the game's developer had been keeping multiplayer co-op at the back of their minds. They said that it would add a certain level of fun to be able to terraform a planet with the help of friends, said PCGamer.

Another new update that Miju Games teased is regarding new portal generators that will send players off to explore procedurally generated planetary wilderness and spaceship wrecks that are filled with loot.

The full launch will also include new character animations as well as a new cinematic intro that will be available to bring players into the world of Planet Crafter. Players can also expect to see new craftable items, music tracks, and many other improvements.

Planet Crafter launched into early access in March 2022 and has since added several new content for players, including biomes, cave systems, and many others. The game's 1.0 update promises to be a polished version of the game that will, hopefully, deliver on fans' mostly positive reviews, according to TechRaptor.
