Tekken 8's New Trailer Marks Return of Eddy Gordo in April, But Without His Signature Long Locks

Eddy Gordo is Coming to Tekken 8 in April With Year 1 DLC Pass

Tekken 8 released its latest gameplay trailer for a returning character to the franchise, a capoeira fighter who was best known for his signature long locks and uniquely fun fighting style, Eddy Gordo.

The fighting game's post-launch content is bringing the first new playable character who will be added to the full roster with the Playable Character Year 1 Pass on Apr. 1 and as a standalone purchase for other players starting on Apr. 5.

The game also posted a list of patch notes for the Apr. 1 update that features balance changes and the Tekken Fight Pass. On top of Eddy's release date, a new trailer was shown that showcased the Capoeira fighter's move set.

Players will find that using Eddy will involve doing a lot of handstands to fight off their rivals using powerful kicks. The footage was described as an amazing demonstration of how the Tekken team brought back the character's capoeira skills to the latest installment in the franchise, according to IGN.

The latest update's Tekken Fight Pass offers players a new way to increase their level and earn bountiful rewards by completing daily and weekly tasks. It also features a "premium tier" that rewards them with "more luxurious items."

Eddy first made his appearance in the fighting game franchise when Tekken 3 was the latest title and has been a mainstay ever since. While Bandai Namco previously confirmed that the capoeira fighter is coming to Tekken 8, the latest update has given players a specific date to watch out for.

The footage shows Eddy having the ability to summon wind using his Rage Art to trap his opponent in a storm and kick them as spectral figures watch from afar. The trailer also showed him having a special intro with another Tekken 8 character, Nina Williams.

The fighting game's first-year DLC pass was said to have a total of four new characters coming to join the roster and Eddy is only the first of these. There were leaks from earlier this year that suggested that the game's latest update will feature two returning characters from Tekken 7, Fahkumram and Lidia Sobieska, said GameRant.

Tekken 8's Year 1 DLC Pass

There were also talks that Craid Marduk, who is another fan favorite and highly requested Tekken 8 DLC character, will be a part of the latest game's Year 1 DLC pass. However, fans will have to wait a bit more until official information comes out regarding the actual characters who will be joining the Tekken 8 roster.

Eddy's return adds a familiar face to a roster that has added quite a few new fighters, who are Azucena, Reina, and Victor. Many players view Tekken 8's roster as the best in the series in quite some time.

However, there are still some notable characters who are missing that have not yet been announced or confirmed to be joining the game, including Christie, Bob, and Mokujin.

The announcement for Eddy also discussed how the game's developers made his fighting style more simplified and streamlined to make it a little easier to face off against him, according to The Gamer.
