Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Confirms New Roster Additions, Including Future Gohan, Beerus, Whis

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, the latest game in the franchise, has confirmed some new roster additions, including future Gohan, Beerus, Whis, Videl, and Trunks (Sword).

The game is the next title in the Budokai Tenkaichi series and is a 3D fighting game that many fans are eagerly waiting for. Screenshots shared by V-Jump magazine were later reposted on X, formerly known as Twitter, alongside fan translations of the text.

They confirmed that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will bring Future Gohan among five other new playable characters to the game's roster. With the addition of these, the game now has 42 playable characters from the highly popular franchise.

While Future Gohan is one of the more popular characters from the Dragon Ball universe, his presence supersedes the game's expected playable characters as far as fans are concerned. This is particularly true because of the limited yet impactful amount of screen time that he got in the series canon, according to IGN.

Fans got their first look at Future Gohan in the Dragon Ball Z special, The History of Trunks. In that particular show, he and Trunks serve as humanity's last line of defense against Android 17 and Android 18 killing off the rest of their friends and family members.

The character's design distinguishes himself from other iterations of Gohan because he can be seen with only his right arm. This is because he lost his left arm trying to protect Trunks as they desperately tried to fend off the cyborg duo's relentless assaults.

While Future Gohan also appeared in various other Dragon Ball games, such as Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, his model still had both of his limbs attached. This prompted a fan-made PC mod where it chopped off one of his arms to stay true to his backstory.

Other characters that were announced to be part of the Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero rosters include two members of the Ginyu Force, Jeice and Burter, and the Pride Troopers Dyspo and Toppo.

New Roster Additions

Another previous update also showcased more classic characters to be added, including Master Roshi, Yamcha, Piccolo, and Kid Gohan. While the former two have already been announced for the game, this particular showcase featured different forms of the characters, said GameRant.

As the still-unannounced release of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero gets closer day by day, fans' excitement levels are shooting through the roof. Furthermore, the trailer rollout for the game has been exceptional as every new footage follows a specific theme that reveals the fighters that will be playable in the game.

During The Game Awards 2023, the announcement trailer was first shown, followed by Rivals, which put Goku and Vegeta's rivalry in the spotlight. After that was Power vs. Speed and the next theme is expected to continue the pattern of character reveals that fans would most likely love.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero could also include characters from the movies in the franchise as well as it would be a wasted opportunity not to do so. This is particularly true with one of the most heartbreaking stories in the history of the series, The History of Trunks, according to FandomWire.
