Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: Warhorse Studios Announces Sequel Launch in 2024

Warhorse Studios just announced Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and confirmed that the sequel to the 2018 open-world medieval action-adventure game will launch in 2024.

The game is set in 15th-century Bohemia and takes place after the events of the first game. The humble blacksmith's son, Henry of Saklitz, has turned into a hero and continues on his quest to avenge his murdered parents.

The world that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 brings has been significantly expanded in comparison to the original title. It now offers bustling cities for players to explore and a lot of side activities including blacksmithing and archery for them to discover.

While the sequel adds a lot of new content and features compared to the first game, it still focuses heavily on storytelling and has more than five hours of cinematics. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 also introduces some new combat mechanics into the franchise.

There will be new ranged weapons such as crossbows and early firearms that will let players use new strategies in taking out enemies. For players who want to learn more about the upcoming title, they can check out the newly released trailer, according to TechRadar.

The footage showcases some surprisingly impressive visuals that look almost photo-realistic. It was also expected that the game will be exclusive to current generation consoles including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC.

Even the original game in the franchise was considered to be an incredibly intensive title back in its day and required a high-spec gaming PC to run smoothly on the highest graphics settings.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance also strained the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, leading to long loading times and noticeable cutbacks to the visuals across the board.

The situation was even worse when the title came out on the Nintendo Switch earlier this year. However, the mere fact that it was able to run on the handheld console at all, as it was comparatively underpowered, was impressive enough.

Highly Anticipated Medieval Adventure

Warhorse Studios also confirmed that the sequel will be twice as big as the original game and touted it as a "behemoth" of a game. In a presentation, creative director Daniel Vavra said that what they made was supposed to have been what came in the beginning, said IGN.

However, he noted that due to a lack of resources and experience and others, they had to shelve it. Vavra said that they have proven that the concept works, which allowed them to take it to another level with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

The sequel seeks to build on the success of the original title, which drew players' attention for the way that it mixed Elder Scrolls-likes first-person exploration with a granular focus on historical detail.

The game's design and combat director, Viktor Bocan, said that they want players to feel the sword in their hand and feel threatened by the enemies on the battlefield. One of the original game's anachronisms was the absence of crossbows and earlier firearms.

Warhorse started out with only 11 people and has since grown to become a large 250-employee company more than a decade later, according to PCGamer.
