'Watch Dogs' Multiplayer Demoed In New Gameplay Trailer, and It Looks Like Loads of Fun [VIDEO]

See How Three 'Watch Dogs' Multiplayer Modes Look In This New Developer Video

Watch Dogs is coming up quick, with just a little over a month between now and its May 27 launch, but not a ton has been said about the multiplayer lately.

Luckily, continuing with a string of great videos from the team at Ubisoft Montreal, developer Colin Graham took to the Watch Dogs channel today to detail some of the game's multiplayer modes.

First was a look at online hacking contracts, which looks really fun. You can check out any player in the game, most of which will be NPCs. But every once and a while, you'll get a contract on another player.

What happens next is really neat. You go into that person's game as Aiden Pearce, where they appear looking like an NPC. You can then start doing surveillance on them, hacking into their personal information in the game. But that person then has to find you and kill you to stop the hack. Graham's method was shooting his gun into the air to try to find the person that didn't react normally... which worked, up until the cops completely derailed him in pursuit of his hacker.

For the hacker, you get the most experience for successfully executing your hack without detection. For the hackee, you get full points if you successfully identify and eliminate the guy trying to hack you. In the case of this demo, both guys got partial points -- Graham for detecting his hacker, and the hacker for escaping without being killed.

Next was the mobile companion app game. The person on the app can challenge someone in the game to a race, of sorts. The person on the app has a blueprint of the city and can set off a number of hacks, while the person in the car tries to avoid the obstacles and pass checkpoints in time. Looks like an awesome pastime for when you're away from your home console.

Lastly, Graham went over competitive decryption combat. This mode involves two (or maybe more) groups of players trying to steal an encrypted file. When one team grabs the file, they have to escape with it to decrypt it before the other team can steal it back. It looks like a really fun mode to play with 2-3 friends.

But words are boring, so I'll stop writing and just let you watch for yourself below. Let us know which mode you're most excited for in the comments!
