PS4 Indie Games List Announced: Sony Reveals 'Spelunky', 'Jamestown Plus' and Much More

Sony Announced PS4 Indie Titles Including 1080p Spelunky, Jamestown Plus, and More

Last night, seemingly out of the blue, Sony announced a slew of indie titles that will be coming to PlayStation 4. It includes some popular indie games, as well as some lesser-known titles--most of which look promising.

Sony said on its Twitter account at around 7pm EST last night that an "indie gaming event" was happening Sony Computer Entertainment America's HQ and news from it would be forthcoming. They then began tweeting links to the official PlayStation blog announcing the names of indie titles that would be coming to PS4, accompanied by trailers.

Games that highlight the planned releases include Spelunky, Jamestown Plus, and Nidhogg. Spelunky will be getting a 1080p upgrade and daily social challenges.

Those titles are probably the most popular names among the announcements, but there's plenty of titles to be excited about that you may not have heard of. Open space exploration game Drifter sounds interesting, as does RPG platformer Chasm. Jamestown is being upgraded with new features and additional content, as well.

We haven't heard too much about indie titles on PS4 since the console's launch compared to Microsoft's ID@Xbox program, but the future of indies on Sony's console is suddenly looking much brighter, and this is only the beginning. Hopefully some discounts for PS Plus subscribers are included when these titles go on sale. Check out videos of the games on the blog.
