Grand Theft Auto 5 Next Gen: Rockstar Working On PS4 & Xbox One Title For This Year

Rockstar Is Working On A Next-Gen Release For This Year

Grand Theft Auto V hit current-gen consoles right before the next-gen ones descended on the world, which didn't stop it from becoming best-selling game of 2013. It did make for some irritated new console owners who couldn't get their hands on on of the most exciting titles around, but that might all be about to change.

A List Of All Of GTA Online's Spring Updates

During Take-Two Interactive's investor call for the ficsal year 2013 yesterday they didn't hesitate to talk about how lucrative that year had been for everyone.

"During fiscal 2014, Take-Two set new records for both our Company and the entertainment industry," said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two. "Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V reached $1 billion in sales faster than any entertainment release in history, NBA 2K14 enjoyed the franchise's strongest launch, Borderlands 2 became 2K's top-selling title, and our digitally-delivered revenue grew to its highest level ever. As a result, we delivered record revenue, earnings and cash flow for our shareholders."

Red Dead Redemption PC Port Leaked?

So yeah, good time to be a shareholder. But could it get better? The biggest news came during the call. "We're excited about what [Rockstar] have in store for the new generation of systems this fiscal year," said CEO Strauss Zelnick.

This fiscal year- but that's this year! Well, technically, before the end of fiscal year 2014 means March 2015, and we'll soon have a new installment in one of our beloved series. Unless they decide to pull a fast one on us and bring out Rockstar Table Tennis 2015.

Grand Theft Auto V seems the most likely suspect for sure- it's been rumored and listings have been spotted for it and hurriedly taken down all over the net. It's something that's in high demand and doing a prettier version of their current release seems much easier than starting up a new IP, especially since Rockstar isn't exactly known for rushing out games.

Another big rumor is for a Red Dead Redemption sequel, something that will surely be almost as massive. Red Dead Redemption hit back in 2010 and almost managed to overshadow the GTA series, at least critically, and people have been dying for a new installment. PC gamers look like they may be getting their hands on a remake soon so could this mean a remastered version is on the way for next-gen, or something completely new?

Upcoming Take-Two titles include NBA 2K15, 2K Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, 2K Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth , Evolve, and WWE 2K15. Even without a Rockstar installment they'll be doing just fine, but with it, they'll be unstoppable.

More as we hear it! For now, witness the best heist in GTAV history.
