Google Glass Video: Watch Tennis Played In First-Person From Superstar Roger Federer's Perspective

Watch Roger Federer Play Tennis In First Person Through Google Glass

It should come as no surprise that Roger Federer is a much better tennis player than you, but that doesn't have to stop you from seeing the court from his perspective. A new advertisement combining the tennis star and Google Glass shows you what the court looks like from his point of view.

The technology giant recently hosted Federer at its Mountain View headquarters, where it handed him a Glass device and put him out on the court. Playing against former great Federer's current coach Stefan Edberg, the video gives you an idea of what it's like to play with that much skill.

The video has plenty of dramatic music and action shots to complement the first-person Glass footage, making for a neat (if clearly made to be marketing) commercial. You get a feel for the speed of the game at a higher level, especially if you're not an even casual tennis player.

Watch A Table Tennis Star Face Off Against A Advanced, Agile Robot

It's a bit disappointing there isn't more footage and, like the robot vs. table tennis star video, a shame that it isn't a real match. It would be interesting to watch longer stretches of footage from Federer's point of view as he actually tried to win a competitive game, rather than cut and edited clips from some friendly volleys.

I'm not asking him to wear Glass on his face during Wimbledon next time around, as that could perhaps be a bit distracting, but the idea of watching a match from a professional's perspective is enticing. Glass worn by an NHL player during a game would be a sight to behold--maybe one day!
