'Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare' Update: EA Teases PS3 & PS4 Versions With 'Sly Cooper' Screen? [RUMOR]

Pic of New Garden Warfare Plant Hints at Game's Eventual PlayStation Release

A new tweet from EA has everyone thinking that the publisher is right on the cusp of making a very interesting announcement for its shooter, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. What exactly? Well, going from the tweet's content, it shouldn't be long before EA reveals that the game will be well on its way to PlayStation platforms.

The tweet in question consists of the above picture of a new plant type, with the message, "It's time for an announcement..."

Fans will recognize the new plant as something of an homage to the PlayStation exclusive series, Sly Cooper. Fly Shooter, Sly Cooper, get it? The plant even sports a similar logo to the infamous pilfuring raccoon, not to mention hat, ears, and the picture itself is basically a recreation of the box art for the most recent game in the series, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, which released on the PlayStation 3 in February of last year.

ACHIEVEMENTS - Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare

Much like its tower defense big daddy being on iOS before Android, the Xbox exclusivity of the multiplayer heavy Garden Warfare was only a timed deal, and it was bound to make its way over to PlayStation consoles eventually. But as for the Wii U, don't count on it.

Frostbite 3 is the engine employed for Garden Warfare, and according to EA's in-house studio DICE, they never bothered to test the engine on Nintendo's console based on unsatisfactory results stemming from testing Frostbite 2.

Granted, it's not an official confirmation, but the signs are clearly there. Given the game was first announced at last year's E3, and with E3 2014 just around the corner, it shouldn't be too long before there's an official announcement.

Already out now on Xbox One and Xbox 360, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare hits PC on June 27.
