Super Smash Bros Pic of the Day Reveals Boomerang Item, Grows In Power Each Time It's Thrown

The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS details keep coming from Nintendo ahead of the staggered releases of both versions while we wait for specific launch dates. We know the title will be out this summer on 3DS, and most likely this winter on Wii U, but it's seeming increasingly likely that we'll have to wait for this June's E3 for the exact release date.

What we will consistently see are daily updates from Nintendo on the game's official site. The last significant info drop came from a Nintendo Direct video, below, which revealed several new characters and details.

While the daily posts don't give as many details as that video did, rest assured that series director Masahiro Sakurai will continue to post some form of content from the upcoming titles to appease fans.

New Harvest Moon Title Announced For 3DS

Today's post reveals a new item, one that has not featured in Super Smash Bros. before. It's a boomerang, shown in the image above, though it doesn't appear to be a specific one from an individual game. Here's Sakurai's accompanying description:

"Pic of the day. Here's a new item that we've thrown in--the boomerang. As you'd guess, it'll fly back into your hands after you throw it, and if you keep catching it, its attack power grows with each throw! However, opponents can nab the boomerang out of the air, so it might be an easier item to use in Smash Run."

Keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news ahead of E3, which will hopefully include an early specific release date announcement.
