Dark Souls 2 DLC The Crown Of The Sunken King Releases Today On Xbox 360; First Chapter In New Trilogy Sends You Deeper Into Darkness

Dark Souls 2 DLC The Crown Of The Sunken King Releases Today On Xbox, Tomorrow On PS3 And Steam

From Software is taking twisted pleasure in your misery today with the release of the first Dark Souls II DLC, titled Crown of the Sunken King.

The title is the first chapter in the Lost Crowns trilogy DLC pack which will pit players against all sorts of extremely, punishingly difficult bosses and dungeons. In the new pack, Players that are brave enough to take on this arduous journey will find new environments, enemies, traps, and bosses to conquer while in search of the lost crowns of the Drangleic's King Vendrick. The Crown of the Sunken King features an entirely new and deadly world map. Pyramids fill a cyclopean underground chasm and, since this is Dark Souls II we're talking about, death awaits you at quite literally every step of the way.

In this day and age of endless checkpoints, saves and walkthroughs that are available the very same day a game drops, Dark Souls II is surprisingly foreign. It does not play nice. It does not explain itself. And it will kill you, over and over and over again.

No New Single-Player DLC For The Last Of Us

The DLC is available on Xbox Live Marketplace today, July 22. It will hit the PSN and Steam tomorrow. Season passes are available for both PlayStation and Steam, allowing players unfettered access to the entire DLC trilogy as soon as the chapters become available.

The Dark Souls games are like life: they're cold, relentless, grueling and when you screw up, you just get to start all over again with nothing. Happy, right? Get the Crown of the Sunken King today!
