‘Tekken 7’ Comic Con Trailer Has Kasumi Tell Her Tragic Love Story With Heihachi, Confirms Super Devil Gene [VIDEO]

Baby Mishima Drama: Epilogue? SDCC Tekken 7 Trailer Promises Final Chapter Of Mishima Saga

At the Bandai Namco panel on the convention floor over in San Diego, Katsuhiro Harada unveiled the most extensive look we've gotten at the latest installment of the celebrated fighting game series so far.

Tekken 7 PC Release Confirmed!

In the trailer, we see Kasumi pondering her lot in life at the temple, as we have seen before, but with a bit more clarity as to the purpose of Tekken 7's main narrative thrust. Kasumi confirms in a voice over that she carries the Super Devil Gene, and a very specific transition from her eye to Jin's during a confrontation with Heihachi seems indicative of something. This highly Kasumi-focused marketing campaign would be strange if she had no part in the actual game. So here we go with an Official GameNGuide Fan Theory: Devil Jin is Kasumi's consciousness transferred into him.

Is it not a bit worrying that we haven't seen any actual fighting in all these Tekken 7 announcements? I know it's early, but for such a well-regarded series in the fighting games genre as Tekken, you'd think there'd be a bit more of a focus on gameplay to get the audience hyped. But such is the strength of the series' lore, I suppose, that only a melancholy narration by Lady Kasumi could entice the fans into a Super Devil Gene like uproar.
