Super Smash Bros 4 News: Powerful Weapon Daybreak Revealed, Made Of Three Collectible Parts Like Brawl's Dragoon

Super Smash Bros Pic of the Day Reveals Daybreak Weapon, Made Of Three Collectible Parts Like Brawl's Dragoon

The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details will keep coming from Nintendo ahead of the staggered release of both versions, even after all the excitement from E3.

The title will be out for 3DS on October 3, as Nintendo announced at the gaming conference, and this holiday season on Wii U. A specific release date for the console version will likely be forthcoming as winter approaches, but Nintendo has plenty of time to make that announcement.

Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, including the unveiling of Lady Palutena, Pac-man, the Mii Fighters and an appearance by Mr. Game & Watch, though he has not yet been confirmed as playable. Even after these major announcements, though, series director Masahiro Sakurai will continue to give us comparatively smaller details through the official site in the form of a daily picture update.

Today's update shows off a brand new item, which will be three-piece collectible like the Dragoon in Brawl. The Daybreak, shown above and in a bonus image below, is described by Sakurai as follows:

"Look at these three radiant pieces... Yup, you guessed it! It's another combinable item like the Dragoon--the Daybreak.

"This is what it looks like when all three parts are combined together. How powerful will its beam blast be? FYI, you can fire shooting items while moving backward and forward. Change direction by flicking the Control Stick or Circle Pad toward the back of the fighter."

Sounds like it could be a powerful item, especially since you need to put it together first. Keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news each day, where we'll hopefully see new character reveals or a Wii U release date.
