The August Warriors Update, a free download, adds unique units to the game and upgrades various aspects of the Suebi faction. Also available today is the Daughters of Mars Unit Pack, which adds units to the rosters of Rome, the Lusitani, Suebi and Sparta. It is available for $2.99 on Steam now.

The developers' post on their official forums further details both the free and paid DLC. You can read more about each new unit, including Hex Bearers, Scythian Noblewomen and Horse Runners in the free update, and the fearsome Gladiatrices, Lusitani Swordswomen and Spearwomen in the Daughters of Mars pack.

SEGA and The Creative Assembly have been busy with the Total War series as of late, releasing several updates and announcements over the past several weeks. Both Rome II and Shogun 2 have been ported to Mac (Rome II will be free on Mac for owners of the PC version), and a large Rome II patch fixed many of the game's siege issues.

Prior to those announcements, the developers brought Rome: Total War and Medieval 2: Total War multiplayer back online via Steam, following their shutdown alongside the Gamespy servers.
