The Hitchhiker Will Let You Secure External 1TB Hard Drive To Your Laptop Or Xbox One

The 1TB Hitchhiker Hard Drive Straps Onto Your Laptop

Two guys traveling around Bolivia got sick of their external hard drives always dangling around, so the pair created a powerful hard drive that connects to your laptop, bringing convenience and efficiency to a problem that no one had, surprisingly, ever tried to solve before.

The fruit of their collaboration, the Hitchhiker, is now seeking crowdfunding via Kickstarter.

"This idea came to us during a trip through Bolivia," said William Densmore, co-founder of Hitchhiker's Deenosaur, in a release. "Walter Boda and I had such a great time, but our external hard drives were an absolute nightmare. They'd slide off of airplane trays and disconnect, or they'd get banged around in our bags and get damaged. It was such a hassle, but we needed the extra storage for our pictures and music."

The company behind the Hitchhiker, Deenosaur, used a HGST Travelstar 5K1000 drive for its prototype. The drive boasts a full terabyte of storage--that's 17,000 hours of music or 310,000 photos.

For a $79 donation, you can nab your own Hitchhiker at the early bird price (although these are moving really fast).

If you already own a hard drive you like, for $39 you can just get the Hitchhiker casing to strap your drive to the back of your laptop.

With over a month to go, the project has raised almost $10,000 of a $78,000 goal.
