Xbox 360 And PS3 Versions Of Shadow Of Mordor Delayed Until November; Next-Gen Editions Will Still Be Released End Of September

Shadow Of Mordor Xbox 360 And PS3 Editions Delayed Until November

The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, the latest game set in Tolkien's universe, have had their release dates pushed back significantly.

The game was originally pushed forward, from October 5 to September 30. In a new press release, Warner has stated that the street date for the last-gen versions of the highly anticipated game will now release on November 18 in the States and November 21 for Europe. All other versions, including Steam, are still slated for their original release dates- Xbox One and PS4 versions will hit September 30 in the Americas and October 3 in the UK. PC and Steam versions will hit worldwide on September 30.

Warner Bros and Monolith, the companies responsible for developing the title, have stated that they need more time to develop the Xbox 360 and PS3. It is not unexpected, though it is still distressing. Teams prioritize the development of games to focus on the latest generation of consoles, the older versions are often set aside to a smaller team to create for those systems. Developers want to put their best foot forward, and releasing titles with the best graphics and most up-to-date AI functionality is how they do that.

Xbox One October Update Is Outlined In New Video

But man, a month and a half delay stings. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is one of this site's most anticipated games coming out this autumn and this author is still stuck in last gen mode (Editor's note- although the rest of us are living comfortably in the future!). The game will hopefully play great on the next-gen systems and the Vendetta AI system will push not simply the graphical capabilities, but the coding limits as well.

I suppose we will have to wait, or pick up an Xbox One or PS4 at last. If you need a good reason to go next-gen, Shadow of Mordor looks as good as any.
