Apple Planning Three Major iOS 8 Updates, Website Analytics Reveal

Apple Has Three Major iOS 8 Updates In The Works

Apple has its hands full with plenty of iOS 8 issues in the short run with iPhone and iPad owners still calling for various bug fixes for the new mobile operating system. Apple is still looking at iOS 8 in the long run, though, and is already testing three major updates – iOS 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3 – for the software, 9to5Mac reported.

In The Meantime, iOS 8.0.2 Is Already Out, Fixing The Serious Bugs From The Previous Update

According to the report, sources have stated that three major updates to iOS 8 are on the way. The most convincing evidence, though, comes from 9to5Mac's own web analytics, which show that iOS devices running iOS 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3 – most likely from users close to Apple testing out the system updates – have visited the site. These visits have been corroborated by an app developer who also started seeing these iOS 8 update hits from the Cupertino area in his own analytics.

These analytics show that these operating system updates have been making appearances since the launch of iOS 8 a couple of weeks ago, with iOS 8.1 reportedly showing up in analytics as early as a couple of months ago.

It's unclear whether this means that Apple is spending more time perfecting iOS 8 before moving on to a new iOS 9 or if it just means that Apple will release these three updates in quick succession. With rumors that a couple of new iPads are in the works and the knowledge that Apple will be dropping a brand new mobile device – the Apple Watch – in 2015, it could be nice to have iOS 8 update throughout next year with new features and functions as Apple expands its product line.
