The Tetris Movie Falls Into Place: Hollywood Has Learned Nothing; The Creators Of Mortal Kombat Are Bringing Classic Storyless Game To Screen

This Is The End, Beautiful Friend, The End: Hollywood Is Making A Tetris Movie

Stop whatever you are doing and take a moment to consider what I am about to say next: they are making a Tetris movie.

Thorella? Thora? Rule 63 Holds True For The New Thor

Yes. One of the best-selling games in the history of the medium. The game that appears on all platforms at some point. The game that is about nothing more than placing bricks. That Tetris. A movie. On the big screen.

I checked my calendar. It is not April Fool's Day. Eurogamer reports that Threshold Entertainment, the studio behind the best video game movie Mortal Kombat (though that is more an indictment of the state of video game movies than it is a recommendation of MK) will be creating the film.

Sleepy Hollow Review: The Kindred

"Everyone knows that Tetris is one of the best known, most beloved brands in the world," Threshold boss Larry Kasanoff explained. "What everyone doesn't know yet is this epic sci-fi story that we're going to tell. That's what's really exciting."

Oh please tell me more! Let me ride this train again. I seem to recall the last time they did this and it wasn't pleasant for anyone involved. Even Liam Neeson didn't walk out of there in one piece.

And for those of you who think it could just be some sort of mad, modern day Da Vinci espousing the next great thing that we mortals cannot appreciate, The Tetris Company is on board with all of this.

"We look forward to partnering with Threshold Entertainment to re-imagine that common experience and bring a spectacular new Tetris universe to the big screen for the first time," Tetris boss Henk Rogers concluded.

Of course, you don't have to wait until it hits the big screen. You can watch the Tetris trailer right now!
