Mass Effect 3 Stands Firm, No Redo on Ending but Delivers New Multiplayer DLC

Shortly after developers, Bioware, officially announced that "Mass Effect 3" will not receive a redo of its ending, the company plans to release a "Resurgence Pack" DLC that features new weapons, character, and maps for multiplayer mode.

On April 10th, fans can download additional weapons such as a Striker Assault Rifle and characters such as Geth Infiltrator, Batarian Sentinel, Asari Justicar, and more.  Players will also get replay value with two new maps, "Firebase Condor" and "Hydra."

BioWare hopes that the new downloadable content for multiplayer and expansion to its ending can quell some of the uproars from upset gamers.  Reaction to the trilogy's conclusion included betrayal and lack of fulfillment in the decisions made by the developers at BioWare.  Dedicated fans who followed the Mass Effect trilogy over a 5 year span are seeking for better closure.

The expanded ending called "Extended Cut" will include additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes that will expand upon the events for the current ending.  The DLC will give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes.

"Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding," said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder of BioWare and General Manager of EA's BioWare Label.

"With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team's artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe," he added.

Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series added, "We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player."

The Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut DLC is scheduled for a summer release and will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
