Shadow Warrior Now Live On PS4 And Xbox One, Lo Wang Returns For American And European Console Players

Shadow Warrior's Lo Wang Slices His Way Onto Next-Gen Consoles

Shadow Warrior, the next-gen remake of the 1997 cult classic of the same name, is now available in both North America and Europe for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Tales From The Borderlands – Episode One Hands-On Preview

The game follows the return of Lo Wang, a deadly assassin with a penchant for katanas. On his assignment to pursue a legendary blade, Lo Wang has to cut through hordes of opposing soldiers and demon warriors with his veritable arsenal of guns, magic and, of course, his signature sword.

At its heart, Shadow Warrior is a throwback to the Duke Nukem family of first-person shooters, with enough gore and Wang jokes to satisfy anyone's inner immature teenager. With simple swipes of the sword, Lo Wang is able to effortlessly cut through enemies, scattering their various limbs and heads all over a map. The launch trailer below gives a good idea of the kind of carnage Lo Wang deals out on a regular basis.

Shadow Warrior was originally developed by 3D Realms, the same studio that brought us Duke Nukem 3D, and the similarities between the two games are readily apparent. The game's next-gen console debut is timed rather well considering the recent announcement of the 3D Realms Anthology, a collection of early shooters from 3D Realms and Apogee. If you want to check out Lo Wang's original adventure before jumping in with the next-gen console, you can pick up the Anthology and get a couple dozen other classic games along with it.

Shadow Warrior is now available for download on PS4 and Xbox One for $39.99.
