A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Total War: Attila, setting the geopolitical stage for the title's events.

The game, obviously, focuses on the age before and during the reign of Attila the Hun, fearsome leader of the Hunnic Empire and enemy of Western and Eastern Rome. The splintering of the great Roman Empire caused the region's own problems, but nobody was prepared for the Hun invasion that nearly resulted in the sacking of Rome.

The trailer depicts the narrative behind all of this, with a voiceover blending some fiction with historical fact to hype the game's setting. Rome's own problems are one thing, but the ominous Attila and his hordes prove to be a different beast altogether. Constantinople is a major focal point of the age, while Visigoths threaten from the north and the Sassanids grow in the east.

The theme of the trailer (and the inspiration for its name, The White Horse) is this passage from Revelation 6:2 provided by the developers:

"And I saw, and behold a white horse, and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him, and he went forth conquering, and to conquer."

The trailer, below, is displaying in-engine graphics, with a few gameplay clips and a brief glimpse of the campaign map combined with some cinematic scenes. Total War: Attila is due out on an unspecified date in 2015 for PC.
