343 has been addressing the problems as quickly as possible, and today announced a server update that should help alleviate the issues. More are on the way this weekend to fix the community priorities, but the experience today should be better than it was.

"We have deployed a number of server updates to help improve matchmaking," today's Halo Waypoint post stated. "These updates should expedite search times and allow you to find matches faster and easier. We are actively monitoring data for wait times and will continue to modify as necessary.

"Additionally, we are monitoring all non-matchmaking feedback, and still targeting another release for this weekend. Please continue to use the support forums to report and discuss issues. We will continue to work until issues are resolved, and thank you for your continued patience. Please stay tuned to this thread for regular updates."

The developers have expressed their apologies as well, explaining that they understand and deserve the criticism coming from fans. The game is pretty huge and the issues complex, but the team is doing its best around the clock to fix the problems:

"Since the launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, we've received several, well deserved, complaints related to slow matchmaking and other issues," a previous Waypoint post reads. "From everyone at 343 Industries, we are truly sorry and feel your frustration. You deserve better and we are working day and night to find solutions as quickly as possible, with our first priority focused on matchmaking improvements."
