PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale, A Smashing Sony Smash Bros

Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC, SCEA, announced the release of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale on Wednesday which would be exclusively available for the PlayStation 3.

Utilizing the same formula from Nintendo's Smash Bros., the game is a celebration of a storied history of great characters and rich worlds brought together in one game.

"PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale delivers a veritable encyclopedia of PlayStation's rich gaming history," said Guy Longworth, Senior Vice President of Marketing, SCEA.  "This game is a celebration for fans of PlayStation and we are excited to deliver the most comprehensive brawler available," Longworth further added.

The game will give players to access a variety of PlayStation characters and tie up with four players for full screen brawler.  Fighting in a variety of configurations, players can take the battle online with new set of challenges which includes Tournament mode, Special Event Battle, and Custom Matches allowing players to customize their matches according to their own rules.

Throughout the Tournament, players will gain experience and special awards and with the Special Event Battles, players earn experience points towards an overall leader board based on performance. 

Music and the game's environment has been developed through the history of PlayStation titles including music composed by John King of the Dust Brothers incorporating it with a mix of various IP soundtracks throughout.

With the multiplayer experience, players can engage in several single player modes including Combat Trials and Arcade mode.  Throughout the game, players can select and control iconic characters such as Kratos, Sweet Tooth, Parappa, Fat Princess, Colonel Radec, and Sly Cooper among others.

According to the press release by Sony, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has line-up special characters from some of the game industry's top third party developers and publishers and the game has been designed to make players draws inspiration throughout the PlayStation universe.
