Angry Bird Space Reaches 50 Million in 35 Days

Angry Bird Space has hit 50 million downloads in just 35 days, according to the game developer Rovio Entertainment's announcement today.

The Angry Bird developer reported on its website that 50 millionth download of the game happened, making it the "fastest growing mobile game" and "breaking all [previous Angry Bird] record".

"This has been simply amazing, and the whole Rovio team is thrilled to see such a fantastic reception for the game," wrote Rovio in a statement.

The game was launched on March 22 and soon became a mobile game sensation. According to an earlier announcement from the developer, there were 20 million Angry Bird Space downloads in the first week. The 50 million downloads in 35 days is a milestone, beating the previous record-holder, Draw Something from Zynga, by 15 days.

"We extend our deepest gratitude to all fans of Angry Birds everywhere. While numbers like this certainly say something about the popularity of Angry Birds, for us the main goal is to keep creating fun new experiences that everybody can enjoy!" Rovio wrote.

Rovio also announced a free update while reminding everyone to stay in tune for "plenty more surprises in stock" and "something even bigger".

The Angry Bird Space features similar slingshot gameplay as previous Angry Bird series, with additional gravitational force element added. There were originally 60 levels, but 10 additional levels have been recently added last week. Currently, the game is available on iOS, Android, PC, and Mac.
