Build Your Own Levels With Far Cry 4's Map Editor

Once you're done exploring all that Kyrat has to offer in Far Cry 4, the experience doesn't have to be over. Far Cry 4 has a map editor that lets you create your own settings so you can explore new landscapes or just watch the chaos unfurl.

Far Cry 4 Review Round-Up: Is Being Similar To Far Cry 3 Necessarily A Bad Thing?

In Far Cry 4's map editor, players have several different tools they can play around with. The terrain tool lets players create hills and valleys to give their map some character and depth even before the details are added in. The foliage tool allows players to plop down a few trees for the sake of aesthetics or throw down a whole forest to make movement across their map a more strategic affair.

Finally, buildings, animals, NPCs and vehicles – all from the game's sizable asset library – can all be arranged as the map creator sees fit. The people and animals may seem docile while in the editor, but they'll start to interact once the level is saved and loaded up.

Far Cry 4 Players Have Two Early Patches They Can Look Forward To

Once a player is satisfied with his work, he can share his level with the rest of the game's player base.

Far Cry 4's map editor can be seen in action in the game's newest trailer. For two minutes, the trailer gives you an idea of all of the kinds of creations that players can make using the editor, everything from a maze to a massive showdown between elephants and mercenaries to a challenge where the player can see how many chickens he can hit at once with a single mortar shell.

Far Cry 4 is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
