Minecraft: Pocket Edition is set to receive new support for skins, similar to the system already used on the PC version, according to one of the game's developers.

Though the mobile version of Minecraft recently received its 0.10 patch, the developers are already looking to 0.11, and one of the features they're working on over at Mojang is support for skins. Changing skins in the Pocket Edition of Minecraft has always been a matter of getting a file program on your smartphone then manually replacing the game's char.png file with whatever skin you're trying to install. With 0.11, hopefully changing skins will be a more integrated affair.

According to the tweet sent out by Pocket Edition developer Johan Bernhardsson, the skin format in the mobile game will be the same as in the regular PC game.

The main purpose of the 0.10 update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition was to smooth out the graphics and increase general performance for players who like to mine and build on the go. In terms of added content, 0.10 put more fences and gates into the game (for the most hardcore fence aficionados) and made it so that baby animals can swim instead of sink.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition is now available on iOS, Android and Fire devices. Compatibility with Windows Phones is currently in development.
