Uber in Nevada No Longer: State Files Injunction, Forces Car Service Company Out

According to an Uber blog post by William, "Uber is in this for the long-term and we are committed to the people of the Silver State." Which is a nice sentiment however, the company has been skirting the state's transportation rules and regulations since it showed up. Uber's ride sharing policies were far less strict than the state they were operating in which in turn caused a political clash. The drivers through Uber are seen by the state as illegal and unlicensed as they do not meet the standards set by the state regulators. Uber has tried to argue their own standards and practices cover the drivers sufficiently, however, Nevada is not hearing it. Somewhere in the ballpark of 50 Uber drivers have had their cars impounded and fines assessed. To Uber's credit, their legal team stepped in to have the cars returned and fines paid.

No word on when the company will return to the market in Nevada or how they plan to make such a return without running into the exact same issues, only that they're working with Governor Sandoval in an effort to make things right and allow the business back into the state. This isn't the first or only run in with state law the company has had, it also ran into issues in its home state of California and the City of Toronto has also moved to end their relationship.
