Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Rumors True For DC Lineup, Jared Leto As Joker, Will Smith As Deadshot, Tom Hardy and More Cast

The Rumor Mill Was Right, Suicide Squad Cast Announced

Warner Bros has announced the cast line up for Suicide Squad as reported by Newsarama. And all though the question of whether or not a movie really does need good guys still is yet to be answered, it's clear that it can't hurt for a move to have a few good actors. If you've been paying attention to the rumors, then you're already a step up as this happens to one of the few times where the rumor mill was spot on.

Independence Day 2 Announced with No Will Smith

As predicted, Jared Leto will be taking up the mantel of the Joker in the new film. Joining him will be Will Smith as Deadshot, a Suicide Squad regular (now we know why he bailed on Independence Day 2). Tom Hardy is coming back into the DC universe but not as Bane. This time he'll be Rick Flag, another longtime member of the Squad.

Boomerang, who graced the small screen last night on the first part of the Flash/Arrow crossover event will be played by Jai Courtney on the big screen. A new face, Cara Delevingne, will be donning the robes of the Enchantress. Rounding out the announcement is Margot Robbie as the ever enchanting, completely psycho, sometimes lover of Joker and all around bad news in pig tails, Harley Quinn.

Terminator Genisys Teases at Trailer with Motion Poster

The film, directed by David Ayer, is based on the comic series by the same name. The premise of the book is that a group of villains is "hired" by the government to handle certain problems. The payment for these suicide missions? Some form of redemption and this crew certainly needs redemption more than they need money.

Suicide Squad will begin shooting in April of 2015 and is set to release in August of the following year.
