Lara Croft And The Temple Of Osiris Community Events; Work Together And Win Weapons, Gems And Maybe A Historical Artifact Or Two

Lara Croft And The Temple Of Osiris, The Four Player Co-Op, Just Got A Little More Cooperative With The New Community Events

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is out now and for fans of a less depressing version of their second favorite archaeologist, you have found your Christmas present to yourself. The four player "co-opetive" title for next gen consoles is getting a little more co-op, and a little less competive with the inclusion of new Community Challenges.

So what is a Community Challenge? They are essentially platform specific objectives that all of the players will work towards each week. Players may be tasked with killing a specifc monster type, gathering up X number of items or completing a certain level a set number of times.

This week’s Community Challenge event is called Burn Baby Burn in which players have to mow down 5,000 exploding flaming mummies using the SMG. Upon doing so, players can run to the comically large community chest in the game’s overworld area and claim their prize: a gold plated SMG.

Each challenge is platform specific, so players can only help out their fellow Xbox 360, PS4 or PC compadres.

The events will run from Sunday to Saturday, and the prize for each week (should it be unlocked) will be available for 24 hours after the closing of the event at 11:59 p.m. that last night. Some weeks will also feature a secondary challenge of slightly less difficulty that will offer up a sackful of gems as a reward.

For the more intrepid and Tomb Raidery folks, Crystal Dynamics will also host the occasional Community Event in which players can opt into a game that has certain obstacles making the map more difficult. One example given was “an unending shower of flaming meteors”, which sounds like a party.

“Lara and the team have also discovered the Sunken City. This new zone found in the Overworld provides players with new challenges and collectibles. The Sunken City will become the gateway to new tombs in the very near future.” The Sunken City is currently available only on Xbox One and PS4.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is available for PS4, Xbox One and PC as a digital download today for $28.99.
