Top 5 Horror Movies For The Holidays

It's the holiday season and you're looking for something to watch. Here are five great horror films to watch this holiday season.

1. Gremlins

This 80s classic actually takes place over the holiday season and as a bonus, is a family friendly romp. Sort of. Most of it. Gizmo is really cute!

This film usually gets overlooked due to the adorable Mogwai but once Spike and the gang make a turn to the less furry side, the movie turns into a nightmare straight from any schlocky horrorfest.

2. John Carpenters The Thing

This is not a holiday movie but there's something about the vast wasteland of snow and being trapped with a group of people you think you know but something is really bringing out their dark side that just screams "vacation with family".

Kurt Russell takes on a mysterious entity from beyond that infects its prey and turns it against the other members of its group. You just can't trust anyone.

3. Jack Frost

Now, there are two of these that came out within a year of each other. If you see a happy snowman on the cover, congratulations, you've picked up the wrong movie. Enjoy your evening of family fun entertainment.

The movie we're talking about has less Michael Keaton and more murder. Jack Frost is a reincarnated serial killer out to avenge his own death after his remains are fused with the snow. He's a killer snowman and this is a cult classic.

4. Child's Play

Again, not a holiday movie but remember when you were like 5 and your mom got you a My Buddy doll for Christmas? It's probably still sitting in your mom's attic. Watch this movie to relive your child or the horror that could have been.

Another reminder for you, all those new toys your child got for the holidays? Any one of those could be harboring the murderous soul of a cold blooded killer. Sweet dreams.

5. Silent Night Deadly Night

This had to be on the list. It's a holiday classic! After witnessing his parents' brutal murder by a man in a Santa suit, a young boy goes to orphanage, gets zero therapy, and becomes a cold blooded spree killer. Good times.

Happy Holidays! And sleep tight.
