Xbox One's multimedia offerings just got a little bit better, as Microsoft has announced a partnership with Sling TV.

The DISH-supported over-the-top service costs $20 per month and will bring with it live sports, television channels, video on demand, and Internet video in "coming weeks". According to the Xbox Wire announcement, the service will bring ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, Cartoon Network, and Disney Channel to the console.

Sling says that Xbox One will be the first gaming console to host the service when it launches, but there's nothing in the statement about permanent exclusivity. All Xbox Live members, however, will get a free one month trial at launch.

"Xbox is onboard as the first gaming console where Sling TV will be available," said Bassil El-Khatib, vice president of Sling TV. "We created the live Internet TV service for millennial consumers underserved by the pay-TV industry. One of the keys to reaching this audience is being on the devices they use, and we know millions of consumers are turning on their Xbox every day to access content they love."

No mincing words there about who Sling TV is targeting with the partnership, and the gaming console is an obvious platform for a younger audience. For its part, Microsoft is happy to expand its multimedia offerings and believe in having more choice available on the console.
