New Theaters Added For Epic Game Of Thrones Event

Game of Thrones is coming to IMAX a bit later than planned, but this is actually good news for fans of the brutal fantasy series. The special screening event originally scheduled for January 23 has been pushed back to January 29 to add more theaters.

New Season Of Game Of Thrones Will Feature New Alliances

The choice to switch times was a reaction to fan interest. Originally the event was to screen at 150 thears but with the support IMAX received for the viewing, it was decided to increase the number of theaters to 200.

So yes, you have to wait a bit longer but there's a chance that it may be closer for some people.

The special viewing is the first of its kind. The two last episodes of the fourth season will be shown back to back, creating a sort of movie focusing on the Battle of Castle Black, a pivotal moment in the show.

To further sweeten the pot, the first 300 ticket holders for opening night will be gifted with a Game of Thrones poster featuring art by Robert Ball. Fans who attend showings that an AMC IMAX will receive "The Watchers on the Wall" poster while all other participating theaters will have "The Children".

After the showing, there will also be an exclusive look at season five of Game of Thrones.

The show will only run for a single week, from Thursday January 29 at 10 p.m. until February 5. Screenings will take place around the country and in selected theaters in Canada. Tickets went on sale today, January 16.
