Game Of Thrones Season 5 News: George R. R. Martin Will Not Finish Books Before Show Ends [VIDEO]

Game Of Thrones On Television Will End Before The Book Series Does

By now, most fans of George R. R. Martin's hit series Game of Thrones have learned that no new book will be appearing in 2015. If this is the first you've heard, I'm sorry. The more troubling news is that this means that the HBO series based on the books will likely wrap long before the series does.

Lady Stoneheart Rumored To Appear In New Season Of Game of Thrones

In a video from Mashable, the problem is outlined. Basically it boils down to this, HBO runs a new season of Game of Thrones every year but they have been very clear that there will only be seven seasons of the show. Martin simply doesn't write that fast.

It's just time vs output. Martin doesn't have enough time to put out the last two books before the show wraps for good.

A Trip To A House Of Ill Repute May Hint At Plot For Game Of Thrones

The show has already taken some liberties but with the actual story that was started not having an end, this leaves the show in a weird position. Do they just go as far as they can get and then end leaving fans wondering what would happen next or do they create their own ending?

Either way people are going to end up unhappy and as the video points out, it is highly unlikely that production will be able to hold until Martin can catch up.

However, producers for the show may already know what is supposed to happen at the end of the series. Rumor has it that Martin slipped them the info at the beginning of filming and they were sworn to secrecy about it. The end of the show could be the real ending of the books.

Or we could hit season seven and be left with some made up non-cannon ending. We'll just have to wait and see.

Game of Thrones returns on April 12. You can watch the video below.
