Bastion Launches On PS4 Today, Bringing Supergiant's Hit Title To The System For The First Time

Sony's Spring Fever promotion is still running, giving discounts to games that are launching on new platforms for the first time. Today, Bastion is debuting on the PlayStation 4.

The excellent indie title from Supergiant Games originally launched as an Xbox Live Arcade game for Xbox 360 in 2011. It slowly made its way across new platforms over the last few years after its award-winning launch, and is finally hitting Sony's newest console today in 1080p and at 60fps.

Bastion is planned for release on PS Vita sometime later this year as well, but there are no plans for an Xbox One edition at this time. This may seem strange given its origins on Xbox 360, but Supergiant's latest hit, Transistor, launched is a PS4 console exclusive--clearly a deal has been struck with Sony.

A post on the PlayStation Blog today from Supergiant Creative Director Greg Kasavin talks about the game for those who missed it the first (or second) time around, and its humble beginnings. It was a difficult game to describe during development, and the team never planned on making it a blockbuster. Today, more than three million copies have been sold, and it allowed the team to go on and build Transistor.

You can watch the intro trailer for Bastion below, which sets up the game world and shows off its gorgeous art. The soundtrack by Darren Korb is also tremendous, as is Transistor's.
