'Stronghold Crusader 2' Free Update: 'Invasions' Content Adds New Siege Mode, Maps & More [VIDEO]

Test Your Castle's Might Against Wave After Wave Of Invaders In The Latest Stronghold Crusader 2 Update

Firefly Studios continues its dedication both towards history and free content with the latest update to its castle builder, Stronghold Crusader 2.

Blackwing Lair, Now Live In Hearthstone

The first free DLC addition of 2015 adds the new Sandbox siege invasions, in which players can test their base design against wave after wave of AI controlled enemies to better detail where their strengths and weaknesses lie. Each wave becomes more powerful than the last, and you can set both the size, scale and timing of the attacks, and even trigger random events in the world.

But it's not all about making the challenge tougher; the update also introduces the new Easy AI mode in Skirmish Trail. A much requested feature, and a way of allowing new players a bit of grace period before discovering how very hard the game can be, the new mode knocks the enemy AI down just a tad so you can take time to think things through and build your base without being harried too much.

Tired of playing the "dauntless and heroic" Crusader? "For the first time in Stronghold history players can choose between invading Crusaders and Arabic freedom fighters in single-player Skirmish Trail missions, gaining access to the advantages and disadvantages of their unique castle architecture. In addition to the Arabic story campaign, that tells the tale of Saladin's forces defending their homeland against European invaders, players can further blur the lines between good and evil by choosing to play as either faction in the Skirmish Trails."

Finally, the update also includes six new maps: Volcano, The Forest and Interlocked to name half.

The DLC is entirely free for Steam players. Get the game here. Watch the trailer below.
